The Shanghai No. 2 Intermediate People's Court was officially inaugurated on July 1, 1995. The Court is situated at No. 567 Zhongshan North Road, Zhabei District, Shanghai.

Over the years, the Court has received numerous accolades: it was designated by the Supreme People's Court as one of the first "National Demonstration Units for Court Cultural Development" and a "National Demonstration Court for Judicial Transparency"; the Central Commission for Discipline Inspection (CCDI) recognized it as one of the first "National Pilot Sites for Integrity Culture Construction"; the Shanghai Commission for Discipline Inspection, the Publicity Department of the CPC Shanghai Municipal Committee, and the Shanghai Supervisory Bureau named it one of the first "Shanghai Demonstration Sites for Integrity Culture"; and the All-China Federation of Trade Unions bestowed upon it the honorary title of "National Model Workers' Home."
